Occasionally I pick up a modeling gig. I just think they’re fun.
First thing I’d like to say is that it’s not easy. There’s a lot of hurry up and wait. Wait for the light, wait for the camera, wait for the movement to be right. The hours are long. Just for one good shot there is hours of prep work and hundreds of takes. You’ll show up at 9am and won’t get to leave until 9pm – flat rate.
My first gig was when I was 6. It was late and long and really difficult to remain a good little girl. It’s still hard.
Open calls are interesting – like a cattle market where the designers play the role of the eager farmer, choosing the right heifer. and you know, when I’m chosen I quite enjoy being the right piece of meat.
